WHO WE ARE


NICK MARSH

Nick Marsh is the Managing Director of Next Corporation. Nick studied at Nottingham, and Leeds in the United Kingdom, and received his PhD in Cross Cultural Industrial Psychology from Bath University. He was a member of the founding team of the Management School at Auckland University and the Director of the Auckland MBA. He has published many articles and business books, including:

1. Theory K-Case Studies of Excellence in NZ Management;

2. The All Star Company- People, Performance and Profit;

3. Strategic Foresight- The Power of Standing in the Future.

He has been involved in many Strategic Foresight Projects, the largest of which was the New Zealand National Foresight Project in the late 1990's which was a precursor to the National Innovation Strategy.

During that time, he has worked with government and local government bodies, private and public companies, and NGO's in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Europe.

Nick has originated many new thinking tools in strategy and change management to help businesses and organisations cope with the rapid change, and developing effective future-proofing strategies.

 IAN IVEY

Ian has a Masters of Science degree from Massey University in New Zealand. He has had senior management roles in the horticulture, corporate investment, and international petrochemical sectors, and has travelled and worked in many countries throughout Europe, the Arabian Gulf, Asia, North America, the Carribean, and the Pacific Rim.

 In recent years, he has been working in the area of future proofing businesses and organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and the Carribean using Strategic Foresight principles and processes, technology transfer between Europe and Australasia, and expanding a network of key international partners.

 His passion is for people, new technologies and concepts, the future and the development of strategies for individual, businesses and organisations to achieve success in a world of accelerating change.

 KEVIN OLDHAM

 

Kevin holds a Master of Engineering from Canterbury University. Kevin joined NEXT Corporation from Maunsell International Consulting Group where he was a senior executive and Director of Environment. Kevin brings over 25 years of experience in executive management and leading proffesional consulting services teams in strategic planning and environmental and infrastructure project delivery. Kevin initiated innovation programmes leading to many project awards for Maunsell, and progressively assumed wider responsibilities for Maunsell's environmental services delivery in New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. He was on the board of Meritac Limited from 1997-2002, and chaired the Audit Committe from 2000-2002.

Kevin also runs SPX Ltd which is an environmental consenting consultancy. He is currently a member of the Institute of Directors, the Resource Management Law Association, and the Institute of Proffessional Engineers NZ.

MARK PRAIN

Mark is a  graduate of Toi Whakaari (Wellington - 1978), New Zealand’s premier Theatre Arts academy, Mark spent 15 years as a professional actor, director, playwright and opera singer. He then spent much of the next 15 working in NZ and the USA on Sustainable Leadership. 

After five years with Greenpeace (1990-94), he became Executive Director of not for profit Sustainable Cities (1995-2000) and then of the “Redesigning Resources Business Leadership Group” (2000-04). He is the author of two books on sustainable best practice (2002 & 2004), and wrote a national column on the subject for the Business Monthly from 1996-2005.

Beyond his current role as Executive Director of the Hillary Institute of International Leadership, Mark is Director of Maven Ltd., a strategic consultancy based in Christ-church. He is also an associate director of Professional Arts Services & NEXT Carbon, a trustee of a number of not for profits and the ED of the Untouched World Foundation. Mark is widely-regarded as an independent thinker and partnership-broker.
